Job Title: Materials Handling- Laborer C

Department: Operations

Reports to: Warehouse/Purchasing Coordinator

Benefit Status: Eligible

I. OBJECTIVES

  1. To accept and carry out responsibilities of this position.
  2. To be familiar with Cooperative' s policies, rules and regulations; and have general knowledge of utility operations, maintenance, and construction.
  3. To be trained in safe, reliable procedures for work assignments
  4. To have thorough knowledge of Cooperative' s ownership philosophy and principles.

II. REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS

Reports to Warehouse/Purchasing Coordinator and may confer with Operations Superintendent and/or District Supervisors

III. RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Follow guidelines of Cooperative on materials handling to include computer assisted inventory information.
  2. Pull necessary materials for construction and maintenance crews from daily job orders/work orders, as directed.
  3. Work with contractors on work orders/material needs to include salvage and junked materials records.
  4. Operate Cooperative equipment and vehicles in safe manner.
  5. Keep Cooperative buildings and grounds clean and maintained at all times.
  6. Report to Warehouse/Purchasing Coordinator daily activities along with other working schedules.
  7. Provide services to Cooperative equipment and vehicles as requested by transportation records.
  8. Assist with tool inventory/checks and records for same.
  9. Assist with vehicle safety checks and records for same.
  10. Assist with inventory semi-annually and annually with Warehouse/Purchasing Coordinator.
  11. Be trained in first aid/CPR as required by law.
  12. Be certified to operate forklift with recertification as required.
  13. Assist with cleanup procedures from spills to include certification for same.
  14. Work with District Supervisor to assure good materials handling accountability for work performed.
  15. Other duties, as assigned, from time to time.

IV. JOB REQUIREMENTS 

  1. Neatness, diplomacy, and average skill and ability to work with other employees, and deal with the general public.
  2. Ability to read, write, measure, and have math skills to adequately perform responsibilities.
  3. Ability to use computer equipment for materials handling, inventory, and other necessary record keeping.
  4. Ability to sit, stand or walk for long periods of time.
  5. Capacity to perform in extreme heat or cold, dust, fumes, chemicals, dampness, and possible loud noises.
  6. Ability to work in areas with conditions of unlevel surfaces, slippery surfaces, and uneven terrain.
  7. Must be able to qualify for Commercial Driver's License.
  8. Ability to carry weights averaging forty-five (45) pounds, not to exceed seventy (70) pounds, with pushing and pulling weights totaling as much as two hundred twenty (220) pounds.
  9. Good physical condition, finger dexterity, vision (including color vision), speaking, hearing, and ability to do close work.
  10. Must be available for overtime.
